About me
I am a Northwest coast transplant, hailing originally from Connecticut.
I write fiction short stories and novels in the genres of sci-fi, fantasy, horror, and mystery.
As my tastes evolve, so too does my writing. I am in the process of crossing the great divide between genre fiction and literature as I make room in my literary repertoire for prose. In my free time (snicker!), I am hammering away on my novel, struggling to let my characters be themselves, even if they are bent on world domination.

my process
I write for the mood I'm in, and sometimes for the mood into which I hope to catapult myself. Writing takes me away from this world, but leaves breadcrumbs so that I might find my way back eventually. I love creating my own characters, my own literary worlds, my own rules of physics and I love to reshape the "way the world works." With that in mind, here is a surreal short-short that accurately describes my writing process:
“She turned a corner, and found herself walking backwards.”

“Campfyre” Series
, Book One: Vampyre
by Tara McMillen
I dreamed up this book 22 years ago, wrote 100 pages, and set it aside, wrote notes, wrote, rewrote, set it aside; I wrote hundreds of notes over the years. It never left my head or my heart, so now that I am older and hopefully wiser, I revamped the story (pun intended), and wrote 50,318 words of the novel in NaNoWriMo 2018 (50,000 words in 30 days). I won! But I realized that the story was only 3/4 done, and is a three-book series!
